Project Details

A grant to ReadyCT will support the launch of a virtual peer mentorship program called Student 5.0 for graduating High School seniors who have been disconnected and disengaged with college and/or career pathways. The program will match participants with a peer mentor from their community, guide them through college and career planning, provide assistance with the college application and financial aid application (FAFSA) process, and receive online instruction in courses such as personal finance, team building, communication, career building and Microsoft Office. Working closely with the staff of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system, high schools throughout Connecticut, as well as local non-profits, ReadyCT is prioritizing students in Connecticut’s Alliance Districts, many of which include low-income communities and areas with high populations of students of color. Graduates of the class of 2020 are eligible to apply for the Student 5.0 program if they have not started the college application process, if they have started but not finished the college application process, or if they are generally uncertain about college and career planning.
